Ambassador Khushi hosted a CV workshop with our partners at Enterprise to help fellow ambassadors build skills and improve their job searching skills. In this blog Khushi shares what she got from the experience as well as some of the tips that were shared on the evening.

My experience hosting The Girls’ Network CV workshop

By Khushi Shah

I recently got to host The Girls’ Network Enterprise CV Virtual Workshop, where we focused on how to craft standout CVs. As an MA Law student and Ambassador for The Girls’ Network, it was a really insightful experience to see how our facilitators guided young people through the process of building stronger CVs and helping them understand how to make themselves stand out to employers.

As someone who had to submit my own CV for my MA course and who is also thinking about the job market, I know just how crucial a well-crafted CV can be, especially when you're starting out.

While I hosted the workshop, the main content was delivered by Louise Taylor, the Enterprise Talent Acquisition Marketing Specialist, who was joined by Omachi Achinivu, an HR intern from Enterprise Holdings.

The workshop focused on how to highlight key skills, achievements, and tailor CVs for specific roles and industries. One of the key points emphasised was that a CV isn’t just a list of qualifications - it’s an opportunity to showcase who you are and what makes you a great fit for the job.

Louise shared what she looks for in candidates and offered practical advice on how to make your CV shine. She also guided us on what to avoid and highlighted the common mistakes that many people make, ensuring that everyone walked away with the tools they need to create CVs that stand out.

It was exciting to see the young attendees engaging with the material and reflecting on their own strengths throughout the workshop. One participant shared that she’s a “good communicator and enjoys teamwork and problem-solving,” which was a quality I could see making her a valuable asset to any team.

We also discussed how to handle challenges in past work experiences.

One participant asked, “What did you do to resolve difficulties in your previous roles?” and it was a great reminder that it's just as important to show how we deal with setbacks as it is to highlight our strengths.

The biggest takeaway for me was seeing how empowered the attendees felt after the session. It’s one thing to have a CV, but it’s another to understand how to make it a true reflection of who you are - your skills, values, and potential.

By the end of the workshop, I could see how much more confident everyone felt about tailoring their CVs and avoiding the common mistakes that can often hold us back.

I’m excited to see how the advice from The Girls’ Network and the team at Enterprise will help young attendees with their career journeys.

Here’s what a few things young attendees had to say about the workshop.

  • "I learned how important it is to tailor my CV for each job I apply to.”

  • “I always thought a CV was just about listing my qualifications, but now I know it’s about showing what I can bring to the role and how my skills match what the employer needs."

  • “The workshop taught me how to highlight my strengths and avoid common errors. I now feel way more confident about applying for jobs!"

  • "The biggest thing I took away was how to show my personality and values on my CV, not just my experience.”

  • “It was really helpful to hear from professionals like Louise and Omachi about what they look for in a candidate."

Huge thanks to our partners at Enterprise for their ongoing support of our Ambassador Community, to Louise and Omachi for this brilliant workshop and to Khusi for her expert hosting and for creating this brilliant overview.
